Bitdefender to award up to $1,500 per vulnerability to further enhance the security of its customers
SAN FRANCISCO – Sept. 6, 2017 – Bitdefender, a leading global cybersecurity technology company, today launched a public bug bounty program with Bugcrowd, the leader in crowdsourced security testing. Building on the success of its private program, the public program will leverage more than 60,000 security researchers on the Bugcrowd platform. Bitdefender will reward security researchers between $100 – $1,500 USD per bug identified—depending on impact and severity of vulnerabilities identified on its website, products, and services.
“Being proactive rather than re-active to emerging security issues is a fundamental belief at Bitdefender,” said Alexandru Balan, Chief Security Researcher, Bitdefender. “Bugcrowd enables access to a crowd of researchers with a variety of backgrounds and skills for continuous monitoring of security issues. Above that, their team is an extension of ours, working with us to ensure program success from scoping the program, to triaging submissions and ultimately helping us build more secure products.”
Crowdsourced security testing is quickly becoming a best practice for organizations of all sizes. From Mastercard to Tesla, Bugcrowd has managed hundreds of successful programs over the last four years, helping organizations at any stage of security maturity take advantage of the collective intelligence of tens of thousands of security researchers.
“As a cybersecurity company, Bitdefender is acutely aware of the pervasive impact a breach can have,” said Casey Ellis, Founder and CTO, Bugcrowd. “Bitdefender is committed to the security of their customers and their products. We are proud to run their bug bounty program.”
