First, we would like to take a moment to address some valid concerns around point calculation and current leaderboards. When we took the next step to evolve our incentivization systems by removing the point-based leaderboards and implementing the overall P1-P4 paid programs leaderboard to encourage and reinforce bug hunters to continue to improve their skills, we did not reflect this filter in Researcher dashboards.

As points are still awarded for all valid submissions, on both paid and kudos-only programs, the total you see in your Researcher Dashboard includes points made on both types of programs – not just for paid only programs.

We understand this is not optimal and changes are currently being planned to the Researcher dashboard that will allow you to see points for paid programs – at present we are working to determine the timeline for this workstream.

Additionally, we are investigating if there is a bug with how points are being calculated for the P1 and P2 paid program leaderboard. We will provide an update on this once we have more information.

As we have demonstrated over the last couple of months, we are listening to you (and our wider community) and we appreciate these concerns being brought to our attention and will be addressed so there is transparency and we give our Researchers the ability to understand your reputation with Bugcrowd. If you have any questions, please reach out support@bugcrowd.com.

High severity bugs that result in critical security impact such as remote code execution or elevation of privilege earn the most kudos points – check out our blog for a breakdown of points and priority, as well as some other great resources such as bug bounty tips and hacker advice from our top researchers.

Submitting high severity bugs not only gets you bigger rewards, it can also help you get invited to private bounty programs faster.

Last but not least, thanks again to all of the Bugcrowd Researchers for all of their hard work and contributions! We look forward to our November Hall of Fame results!
